From the 5th till the 8th of September Jiske played the last Grand Slam of the year, the US Open! Unfortunately, there was no success in singles. Jiske had a tough draw, cause she was playing world number two and second seed, Aniek van Koot in the first round. She didn't reach her level and couldn't fight off her opponent in this match. Jiske lost 6-2 6-2.
But in doubles they were very successful. Jiske and Aniek won all the other Grand Slams in doubles together this year. So winning the US Open would mean they would reach the Golden Slam in 2013. The Bryan brothers also had the chance to do this during this years US Open, but they didn't succeed.
In the seminal Jiske and Aniek played against Jordanne Whiley and KG Montjane. A week before the event, Jiske and Aniek lost to this pair in a Super Series event in St. Louis without even a chance of winning. They won the 1st set 6-3. But in the 2nd set they dropped the pressure on their opponents and lost the set 7-6. In the 3rd set they increased the pressure again, which led to more mistakes of the opponents. They won the set 6-1.
In the final they played against Sabine Ellerbrock (GER) and Yui Kamiji (JAP). They played a good match. They took the 1st set 6-3. In the 2nd set they took the lead and at 5-2 they had a 1st championship point. But they didn't take this one. They lost two games in a row, and all of the sudden the tension was back in the match. At 5-4 they had a 2nd championship point, which they converted. The US Open title and the Golden Slam is there! It has been a great year in the doubles events and this golden slam is a crown on all the tournaments they've won together in 2013.
