Sydney International day 3

jiske griffioen

A big day at the Sydney International. I played Yui Kamiji from Japan, world number 3 and the 2nd seed this week. I played Yui at the Masters 2013 for the last time. I lost that match 6-4 in the third set.

I started bad, hitting a couple of unforced errors and lost the first two games of the match. After that, I started to make more pressure and less mistakes. I was able to get back to 2-2 and after that, I took control of the match. I won the 1st set 6-2. I was in control the entire 2nd set as well, and won the 2nd set 6-0.  Really positive about this match.

After that, I played the semifinal of doubles. This week I'm playing with Lucy Shuker. It's the 1st event we play together. We had a bye in the quarterfinal, so started in the semifinal against Park/Niho. The 1st set went well, even though we never played together before. We won the 1set 6-2. In the 2nd set we took a 3-1 lead, but then allowed our opponents to level at 3-3. Luckily, we were able to turn that around and won the 2nd set 6-3. Tomorrow we will play the doubles final against Yui Kamiji and Jordanne Whiley.
