Australian Open doubles final

jiske griffioen

On friday the 24th, Marjolein and I play the final of doubles at the Australian Open. The 1st Grand Slam final of 2014. Our opponents are the 1st seeds Jordanne Whiley (GBR) and Yui Kamiji(JAP).

At the beginning of the 1st set it's clear that Marjolein and I don't play together very often, and Whiley/Kamiji are used to play with each other. We face 0-5 quickly, but then start to find ways to hurt our opponents. We come back to 2-5, but can't prevent it that our opponents take the 1st set 2-6.

In the 2nd set we find a way to fight ourselves back in the match. It's a close set and we claim it in a tiebreak.

The beginning of the 2nd set is close, but than we are not able to be as solid as in the 2nd set. We loose the 3rd set 2-6. Marjolein and I tried, but didn't have enough weapons or experience playing together to hurt our opponents.
