Jiske Griffioen received her year-end No. 1 women's doubles award for 2013 from ITF Wheelchair Tennis Manager Mark Bullock at the recent British Open, the latest Super Series event on the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour event, in Nottingham.
In 2013 Griffioen achieved a set of outstanding doubles results, including victory in all four Grand Slam events with partner Aniek van Koot, leading to her topping the ITF ranking at the end of the year. Griffioen’s set of six doubles titles last season also included two Super Series titles, at the Sydney International Open and the British Open, both of which she also won alongside van Koot.
It is the fourth time that Griffioen has ended the year at the top of the ITF Wheelchair Tennis women's doubles ranking since 2006, having shared the award with fellow Dutchwoman Esther Vergeer in 2007 and 2008.
The Dutch player’s career has been characterised by significant achievements in doubles, winning 93 titles and two women's doubles silver medals at the Paralympics Games in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012.
