Paralympic athlete 2015

jiske griffioen

I've been going to this sports gala for years. It’s always a great night. First there is the show that they broadcast on television and after that there is time to catch up with a lot of colleagues from the world of sports. But this is the first time that I’m nominated for one of the ‘Jaap Eden awards’. How exciting! So this means a lot more stress to pick out a dress, to make sure my hair is perfect and my make up is done. And luckily on the 15th of december I have make up artist Niki Vos to help me out and she did a great job!!

Princess Margriet is there to present the award for paralympic athlete of 2015. And I cannot believe it when she calls out my name from the golden envelop. What an honour to receive this award and what a way to end 2015! I’m so happy (as the picture below shows!!) that my parents and brother are here to celebrate this moment with me. I wish I had my whole team with me to celebrate this moment, cause they have been such a great support in my sports career.
